I am so excited, the Iditarod starts Saturday. Of course since I live out here, we don't get very good coverage of the race. Whereas when we were in Washington State, every night we had updates. But luckily the Internet should make up for that.
I'm still hoping for Marin Buser to come in at least in the top 5. I don't know why, but he's my favorite. Maybe it has something to do with the fact he looks like his dogs by the end of it? There are a lot of interesting people who are running. Out side of Buser, There is Redington family, 2 generations running this year and three generations involved. Ray Redington founded the race to commemorate the 1925 relay to get diphtheria serum to Nome before it killed the town's children. Then there is also Rachael Scdoris, who is legally blind. This will be her third year running, I believe.
If your interested in the 1925 relay, most know the basics of the story if you've seen Balto. Another resource is The Cruelest Mile by Gay Salisbury.
